BLONDE ALE

Mediterranean beer with golden straw colour. Cereal and citrus aromas prevail in the nose. In the mouth it is a beer of long drink with good body, forms a fine and well-integrated bubble. This beer represents a very good balance between the sweetness and the flavours of cereal due to the double malt and the freshness of the hops that confer the citrus aromas without abusing the bitter ones.

Pairing: It is good everything, especially fresh and light meals, fish, white meat, sushi, simple starters, salads, etc.

WINTER ALE

From Althaia Artesana we have been trapped by the spirit of cooperation which is breathed among the brewers from all over the world. So that, when our friend Jens Maudal of the Haandbryggeriet brewery came to visit us we could not refuse his offer to make this collaboration. That was how the Cap Blanc recipe came out, an IPA Session made with American hops and with all the Hispano-Norwegian essence of the hand of two passionate about beer.

RABOSA, a Pumpkin Ale style beer that suggests cooler weather and fall harvest season. It is an orange-copper beer, spicy, with a full body that suggests a good accompaniment to the fresh winds of autumn, evoking the traditional roasted pumpkins found in the ovens and markets of our area. Its aroma is reminiscent of pumpkin pie, complex, harmonious and spicy. Its foam is well formed with a sweet malty in the mouth reminiscent of pumpkin pie or gingerbread cookies.

WHEN THE WIND DOES NOT BLOW YOUR WAY ADJUST THE SAILS

A woman, the ocean and a boat. The American oceanographer Terry Brown alone crossed the Sargasso Sea aboard her small ship The Mistral during her solo explorations of the abyssal bottoms. A storm left her stranded on a Bermuda islet for four weeks in which she was able, by her own means, to repair her ship to go to sea again.

Our Mistral is inspired by this fierce and adventurous spirit, merging into a robust, aromatic and bitter Imperial IPA, with powerful citrus fruits and tropical fruits on the palate thanks to hops from the New World.

A powerfully feminine beer that faces the future without losing an iota of authenticity.

BARLOVENTO

In 1811, under the Napoleonic Wars, the English captain George S. Goldroll, carried out the feat of transport aboard the merchant frigate Windward 800 gallons of Imperial Stout to the port of St. Petersburg, circumventing the Continental Block imposed by the French to the British trade.

After a random voyage, bordering the Scandinavian coast, capping storms and raiding enemy ships and icebergs, managed to reach the court of the tsars. This successful journey would give the Imperial Stout the strength of smoky and exotic notes that would make it exceptional.

Heir of those epic trips is born BARLOVENTO, the new beer of Althaia Artesana, a Smoke Imperial Stout intense and robust thanks to notes smoked and the special touch of tonka bean that give it that unique character. Designed for authentic sailors, made to taste in a good glass and to appreciate its thick cinnamon foam and feel as they reach the senses its complex, rich and deep flavour.

COSTA ESTE

This collaboration with the brewery Brew & Roll (Pamplona), awarded as the best new brewery in Barcelona Beer Challenge 2017.

East Coast is a New England IPA or NEIPA beer with a more moderate bitterness, since little or no hops are added during cooking. The high amounts of hops are used in the whirlpool and in the dry hopping after the boiling and when the fermentation ends.

Predominance of hops citrus and fruity in aroma, which they get with lots and lots of hops added to the end of boiling and / or whirlpool and multiple additions also during fermentation and maturation.

Much body and silky in the mouth and a characteristic cloudy appearance. To achieve this creamy texture in the elaboration of this type of beers are added oats or wheat, or in our case both.

SIDAMA

SIDAMA – BROWN COFFEE PORTER It is a collaboration between two artisan worlds, D·Origen Coffee Roasters and Althaia Artesana. It is a beer of mahogany colour, with base of coffee and creamy foam, consistent and of vanilla colour. The characteristic aromas of this coffee recently roasted and milled have been integrated into this beer by means of a previous infusion in cold called – cold brew – adding this during its elaboration. The coffee offers us hints of red fruits, mocha and toffee which leaves us with a refreshing acidity on the taste buds thanks to the mixture of malts and the contribution of coffee with red fruits aftertaste like gooseberries. This is certainly a refreshing beer and a satisfying drink, with a fine bubble and very well integrated due to the natural fermentation.

MASCARAT

GIVE HIM TO MASK AND HE WILL TELL YOU THE TRUTH

Some time ago a bandit lived in the mountains that separate Las Marinas. In those days to cross them to go from Altea to Calpe, one could only go through a narrow road used by our beloved MASCARAT to rob the unsuspecting travelers. And in his honor we make this Black IPA with rye, black, creamy and very hoppy.

A beer that, with its color is very drinkable and with a predominance of hops. On the nose: citrus, resinous and pinnaceous aromas that contrast with notes of soft chocolate and toast.

Black and a good tan foam. Its flavor is the balance between the dark malts and the hops that bring a marked bitterness. The mouthfeel is creamy and refreshing at the same time with a medium carbonation.

With this beer we wanted to experiment and take a step further with one of the most risky combinations of malts and hops: dark malts, rye and dry hopping.

HELIODORA

Heliodora restless waiting down the road. At the end of February her father always brought her sanguinelli oranges from the market.
With the snow-capped mountains, deep in the winter, those blood-red fruits seemed to announce the warm breeze of spring. And every year wondered how would the trees that grew so beautiful fruit.

The history of the orange trees is a long journey. They arrived in the Mediterranean from China a thousand years ago, when they gave a bitter fruit that was used as medicine and seasoning. They adapted so well to their new home that they spontaneously produced a multitude of new varieties until, in 1646, the Italian botanist Gian Battista Ferrari first described the red pigment in citrus.

The different varieties of blood oranges traveled for centuries in sailing boats and became popular throughout Europe thanks to their resistance to long trips. With the arrival of the steamer ships, the sailing time was reduced so that other varieties could be exported and little by little the blood oranges fell into oblivion.

But Heliodora never forgot them. The Mediterranean sun had reserved her gift in Altea, where she found the trees that intrigued her since childhood. Now, every February, he goes to his centenary garden with the illusion of a girl to pick up the sanguinelli oranges that are added to this Berliner weisse.

A wheat beer, brewed according to the ancient recipe in the early twentieth century was about to disappear. It is soft, refreshing and slightly acidic, with the touch of color and aroma that these very special citrus fruits provide.

ALEWIFE

Alewife is an IPA Red-style beer whose recipe was created for the Pink Boots Collaboration Brew Day. Pink Boots Society is a non-profit association whose objective is to help, support, encourage, educate and inspire women who work in the brewing industry. Its name pays tribute to the so-called “Alewife”, a term coined in twelfth-century England, which refers to women who dedicated themselves to making their own beer as a profession and a way of life.

It is a fresh, copper-colored beer with reddish edges, prominent and creamy foam. In the nose, tropical aromas such as papaya and passion fruit prevail and in the mouth it is fresh and strong at the same time, with a balance between the freshness of the hops and the notes of caramel and cereal of the barley malt.

SIROCO BARREL AGED

The southern winds have brought to Althaia SIROCO, an American Barleywine beer matured in whiskey barrels for 3 months.
This intrepid sailor has traveled for 3 months loading our new beer in the cellar.
Intense and succulent, full of maltosity and with markedly hopped notes that, together with the complexity of the oak, make a unique beer. Copper-colored with ruby highlights, bright, with a marked drop in the cup and cream foam. In the mouth, a full-bodied beer with a velvety sensation is perceived, a certain warmth is felt on the palate due to its high graduation.
